Subscribing to RSS Feeds

I should be preparing my own ESL classes right now; instead, I'm working on this week's assignment for my EVO 2008: Web 2.0 for ESP course. Such a fun course! So well organized, too! Maybe the instructors will give more online courses in the future?????????

I created an account with Google Reader and I subscribed to all the RSS feeds listed on the wiki. I also subscribed to my own blog. I'm not sure I did it all correctly, but I'll check the reader often to find out!

I just want to make sure I understand what I accomplished in this task:

I've opened a Google Reader account.......so now the Google Reader captures all the postings from the Web 2.0 for ESP Yahoo!Groups website... AND the course blog.... AND the course twitter....AND my own personal blog.... AS WELL AS any other websites that I may subscribe to in the future. Right? In other words, I don't have to open up these websites separately from now on. Is that correct?

Whoops! I better get back to my class planning!

Absolutely, Lori! You got it all, right :) And, yes, this way should save you a lot of time since you won't be wasting time going to blogs or sites you want to see or read; instead they are pulled and put in one place for your to check.

RSS aggregator is regarded as one of the most critical Web 2.o tool that should help us, educators and teachers everywhere, understand and accelerate the move towards a new approach of learning that should be pulled rather than pushed or supplied.

In other words, or let's think of it in terms of our classroom environments, RSS readers would support us to encourage and enhance critical thinking that'd inevitably result in true real usable learning for both teachers and students. That is the new learning approach that would help us evolve or grow as appose to the conventional learning system, which is a push-centered approach that is only focused on building up stocks of knowledge in our, (teachers and students) heads! See the point, Lori?

Thanks, again Lori for your excellent participation and interest in our evo08 Web 2.0 for ESP :)
